Who can ever forget the dramatic end to the 400 meter semi-final race at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona when British runner Derek Redmon finally hobbled over the finish line because of the perseverance and help of his father? He had torn his hamstring at the beginning of the race and it looked as if he was done. But a father’s love changed the race as Derek’s dad joined him on the track and helped him finish the race! What a wonderful example of the power of a father’s love!

This weekend, we have the opportunity to witness once again the love of a father for his children as we hear the prophet Hosea remind God’s wayward and rebellious children: “Yet it was I who taught Ephraim to walk, I took them up in my arms; I led them with cords of human kindness, with bands of love. I was to them like those who lift infants to their cheeks. I bent down to them and fed them.” Regardless of their past infidelities and unfaithful, God had nurtured and cared for his people. But it didn’t seem to be enough. In his sorrow he cries out:  “How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I hand you over, O Israel?”

What a wonderful picture of the love God has for his people! And what a wonderful weekend of worship we will enjoy as Ann Hill from Feed My Starving Children will be here with us to share how God’s love for his children everywhere gives us the opportunity to serve and touch lives far beyond our walls!

We hope you can join us for a great time of worship and challenge!
