Do you remember the old days when people played Solitaire with actual cards? It seems ages ago when we dealt out piles of cards on a table and played … all without the help of a computer screen or a mouse. Back then we accepted the fact that winning at Solitaire didn’t depend on skills and experience, but more often than not by the way the cards were dealt. When you won, you won. But when you lost, the game was over! Done! Finished!
But oh, the wonder of living in the age of computers and smartphones, where there is the little feature called: RESTART THE GAME! With this little RESTART button, suddenly our percentage of winning go way up as we’re restart the game to avoid our past mistakes and blunders. And if we ‘play our cards right,” we can always win the game no matter how times we use the RESTART button.
Is it possible to consider Easter and the Empty Tomb as God’s massive RESTART button to the sin, mistakes and failures of our fallen creation? Is it possible to think of when the women went to the tomb and were shocked by the angel’s news that Jesus had been raised from the dead, it was the start of a new creation … a restart to entirety new game of life? If so, as the result of the Empty Tomb, life could be lived differently and without excuses! Gone was the burden and guilt of sin paid for on Good Friday. Gone was the fear of losing the game of life. All that remained was the hope of new life and possibilities! All because of the RESTART of Easter!
Join us at Grace for the season of Easter as we see how God Restarts things!
